meetMED II: Final Event in Brussels marks key milestone for Energy transition in the Mediterranean

On 23–24 June 2025, Brussels hosted the final event of the European project meetMED II – Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean Region, promoted by MEDENER and RCREEE with the support of the European Union. The event marked the conclusion of a four-year journey of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation aimed at promoting energy efficiencyrenewable energy, and market integration in countries across the southern and eastern Mediterranean.

The two-day programme brought together national energy agencies, EU institutional representatives, international experts, and regional stakeholders to review the project’s achievements and set the stage for the upcoming meetMED IIIphase.  Held alongside the UfM Green Week, the event featured institutional sessions, thematic panels, national insights, and meetings with the meetMED Regional Experts Network (REN), all designed to strengthen synergies and support a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition in the region.

meetMED II has shown how Euro-Mediterranean cooperation can lead to concrete actions—strengthening institutions and supporting integrated energy policies,” said Giorgio Graditi, Director General of ENEA and President of MEDENER.

“Over the years, we have built a strong network of experts and institutions. With meetMED III, we aim to deepen this collaboration and move forward with shared and impactful actions,” added Roberta Boniotti, Secretary General of MEDENER.
